The Challenge

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." -- Margaret Mead

In the life of every organization there is a special time; a time when it responds with vitality and purpose to the needs of the day and in so doing secures the future of the organization for generations to come.  This is such a moment for Mission San Luis.

Recognizing this, the Board of Directors of the Friends of Mission San Luis launched an endowment campaign to support research and educational programs at the Mission in perpetuity.  The goal is to preserve and promote Mission San Luis, the 17th century capital of western Florida and an important piece of American history.

To achieve this goal, Mission San Luis was recently awarded a $1,000,000 Challenge Grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities.  To leverage these federal funds, we must raise an additional $3,000,000 by March 2008.  We have been successful in raising $500,000 to complete Phase 1 of the NEH challenge for 2005. Our current efforts are focused on a goal of $1,250,000 by March 2006. We have been successful in raising $500,000 to complete Phase 1 of the NEH challenge. Our current efforts are focused on a goal of $525,000 by March 2008. Pledges to the campaign are accepted and payment is not due until March 2009.

An appeal is extended to you, as well as other individuals, corporations, foundations, and organizations from throughout the area and the nation to become a part of this significant endeavor, “Ensuring the Legacy:  Mission San Luis Endowment Campaign.”  Next
