Help Build a New Future for the Past

Volunteers

Mission San Luis has volunteer opportunities to satisfy the history lover in everyone.  People of all ages and abilities can help us tell the Mission's story. The Mission San Luis volunteer corps members provide invaluable service in many key areas:

  • Serving as greeters and docents in the visitor center
  • Bringing the 1700s-era San Luis community to life as living history re-enactors
  • Promoting Mission San Luis through community outreach booths
  • Assisting in gardening and outdoor maintenance projects throughout the site
  • Contributing skilled knowledge and ability in areas such as woodworking, sewing, metalworking, animal husbandry
  • Supporting our year-round education programs as camp counselors and youth craft demonstrators
  • Aiding archaeologists in artifact cleaning and sorting
  • Providing marketing and administrative support behind the scenes

The possibilities are limitless, and your sense of accomplishment will be priceless! For more information about volunteer opportunities at Mission San Luis, please attend our monthly volunteer meetings. These meetings are free, open to the public, and are held the third Saturday of the month at 11:00 a.m. in the Jay I. Kislak Classrooms unless specified below. You may also contact the volunteer coordinator, Alison Abernathy, at 850.245.6485 or Alison.Abernathy@dos.myflorida.com to learn more.
